Packing tape and plastic wrap ghost, Part 2

So the last post covered making the head and arms of the plastic wrap and tape ghost. This post will cover the torso and dress. And Just an FYI, both the boys and my wife found the inflatable form to be "creepy"...

Using the inflatable torso form I ordered from Amazon, I wrapped several layers of plastic wrap all around it. Once this was done, I started with the tape, using almost an entire roll to ensure good coverage and as much stiffness as possible. To attach the arms, I trimmed off some of the upper arm to match the angle of the torso and them taped them both into place.

I tried using nitrile gloves for the hands, but they ended up looking ridiculous, so I cut them off.

Next, It is time to remove the form from the inflatable torso. Simply cut the plastic and tape from the torso, being careful to not cut the torso (You may want to make a second one, just saying...). Once cut and you have wiggled the torso out, have someone help support the form and then tape it back together both inside and out. You now have the upper body.

To make the skirt portion, I used a hanger to suspend the ghost from a knob on our entertainment center. I then cut and wadded up 2 3.5 by 3 foot sections of transparent shower curtain. The cheaper and thinner, the better. Take the first segment and wrap it around the waist of the upper body segment and have your helper tape it to the body with several overlapping layers. then do it again with the 2nd segment. Once done and you have reshaped the torso to get rid of any cave in spots, take a pair of scissors and cut shreds into the skirt.

The rest of the ghost will be finished once we get her set up outside. I'll first get her PVC stand built and hammered into the ground using a 6 foot, 1 inch pipe. To that I will add a 4 hole connector, and 2 4 inch segments going horizontal to support her shoulders, and then 1 more 10-12 inch segment to support the head. I plan on loosely wrapping these in plastic wrap to hep with the shimmer effect of the lights. At this point I will attach the head...

I'll have that post ready later into September...
